Ever since Helen Keller made a presentation at
International Convention in 1925, Lions have been
inspired to improve eye sight and prevent blind-
ness the world over. Our club is no exception.
Below are our club's contributions in this area.
PHOTOSCREENER
Periodically our club will test groups of pre-
verbal children for up to six eye disorders using
state-of-the-art technology - a special camera
designed to detect eye sight problems even in
infants! This prevents learning disabilities
and more serious sight problems in the future.
EYEGLASSES COLLECTION
Each year our club collects over 1000 used
glasses which are then sent to Mexico and other
third-world countries to be recycled. If you'd
like to help call or email Lion Dave Newman
FREE EYE EXAMS AND GLASSES FOR CHILDREN
Though the cooperation of Dr. David Newman, our
own Lion Optometrist, our club provides two
hundred children from low-income families free
eye exams and glasses each year.
LIONS INTERNATIONAL SIGHTFIRST PROGRAM
ROCKY MOUNTAIN LIONS EYE INSTITUTE & EYE BANK
ANCHOR CENTER FOR BLIND CHILDREN
Our club generously contributes to all of the
above organizations.
LEADER DOGS PROJECT
Club supports the Leader Dogs Project.
